Biography
Wendell is the managing partner of Hunton Andrews Kurth’s Washington, DC office and is an elected member of the firm’s Executive Committee, its board of directors. Wendell’s practice focuses on class action litigation and internal investigations. Committed to pro bono legal service, Wendell represents domestic violence victims seeking protective orders. Wendell previously served as Counsel to Deputy Attorney General Jim Comey at the United States Department of Justice and as a federal prosecutor in the US Attorney’s office for the District of Columbia. Wendell also tried dozens of cases as a prosecutor in the Richmond Commonwealth Attorney’s Office.
Wendell is on the Board of Trustees at the University of Richmond where he is the chair of the Academic and Enrollment Management committee and is a member of the Board’s Executive Committee. He is on the Board of Directors of the Military Bowl, a college football bowl game benefiting organizations supporting our troops and their families. Wendell received his undergraduate degree from Wake Forest University, where he played scholarship football. Wendell received his law degree from the University of Richmond School of Law where he was elected by his classmates to be class President, was voted by his classmates to be the student graduation speaker and was selected by the law school faculty to receive the Charles T. Norman Award presented to the most outstanding graduate of the class. Wendell is a graduate of the Sorensen Institute for Political Leadership at the University of Virginia. Wendell is an occasional podcaster and created the viral podcast Our Pain (https://soundcloud.com/user-237509730/our-pain) where he discussed his negative experiences with law enforcement after the George Floyd murder to foster empathy for the plight of African Americans in this country. Wendell has spoken at prior P.A.D. leadership conferences, most recently at the 63rd Biennial Convention & Leadership Conference where he discussed the overwhelming reactions to his Our Pain podcast.
