Big P.A.D. news comes from District 16 this week! Not only are we excited to congratulate Sister Megan Costilow on her appointment as District 16 Justice, but also announce a chapter name change.
Congratulations to the formerly known Lamar Chapter at
The University of Mississippi School of Law
on changing their name to the Joshua M. Morse, III Chapter.
The chapter’s namesake, Joshua M. Morse, III, was dean of the University of Mississippi School of Law in the 1960s where he defied segregationist tradition by admitting the school’s first Black students — a move that led to the desegregation of Mississippi’s legal profession and judiciary.
Phi Alpha Delta is the world’s preeminent law fraternity because of our dedication to service: service to the student, the school, the profession, and the community.
It is through devotion to the ideals of compassion, courage, diversity, innovation, integrity, professionalism, and service that we better both our profession and our community. Through accepting our differences we become not just a law fraternity, but a family.
