Biography

J. Derek Hill’s involvement in P.A.D. spans over 40 years. During law school, Derek served Hull Chapter as its Marshal and two terms as its Justice. He attended his first Convention in 1980 as a Hull Chapter delegate. Derek has served as District Justice twice in different parts of the country.

At the 1990 Convention, Derek was elected to the position of International Associate Tribune. In 1992, he was elected to P.A.D.’s International Executive Board as the International Secretary. He held various positions on the Board and concluded his Board service in 2006 as International Justice.

He served as a Trustee for the P.A.D. Endowment Fund for over 20 years and served 12 years on the Board of Directors for the P.A.D. Public Service Center. He is a recipient of the Fraternity’s Meritorious Service Award and the Professional Fraternity Association’s Career Achievement Award. At the 2016 Convention, Derek was inducted into the Fraternity’s Distinguished Service Chapter. At the 2018 Convention, he was the keynote speaker and has been a presenter at various other Conventions.

Derek is a native of Alabama. He attended the University of South Alabama, Cumberland School of Law and the University of Florida Graduate Tax School.

Derek is a retired Brigadier General with over 29 years of military service.

Derek is married to fellow P.A.D. Rhonda Hill. They currently reside at Desert Mountain in Arizona.
