Shelley was born and raised in Southern California. She attended the University of California at Santa Barbara from which she received her bachelor’s degree in Law and Society. While attending the University of San Diego School of Law, Shelley was initiated into the Paul J. McCormick Chapter where she ultimately served for two years as Justice.

Shelley has served as Alumni Advisor for the Beaumont Chapter at the Thomas Jefferson School of Law which was awarded the Stanley H. Kohn Outstanding Chapter Award. She was appointed Alumni Advisor of her alma mater, in which capacity she served for nearly 20 years. She has also been selected as McCormick’s Outstanding Alumnus Member.

Shelley attended her first Convention in Cleveland, OH as a delegate of McCormick Chapter. After graduation, Shelley worked on the reactivation of the San Diego Alumni Chapter and served one year as its Justice. Shelley attended the Convention in Hot Springs, AR, where she served on the Audit and Finance Committee. At this Convention, Shelley was elected to the position of Associate Tribune.

Shelley served for six years on the International Tribunal, culminating with her election as Chief Tribune. Shelley was intimately involved in the development and implementation of P.A.D.’s Professional Responsibility and Ethics Program.

At the 1988 Convention, Shelley was elected to the International Executive Board. At successive Conventions, she was elected to several International Executive Board offices, culminating with her election in 2000 to the position of International Justice.

Over the years, Shelley has served on numerous Fraternity committees and Boards, most notably Chair of the Endowment Loan Committee, the Professional Responsibility and Ethics Committee, the Building Committee, Phi Alpha Delta’s Public Service Center, the Take The Pledge Committee, the P.A.D. Development Committee and the Rules and Resolutions Committee. 

Shelley was honored to have been elected to the Distinguished Service Chapter by the 2018-2020 International Executive Board. She joined a group of venerable brothers and sisters who came before her and will cherish the honor forever.

Shelley currently serves on the Board of Connect4Cancer, a charitable organization dedicated to education about and the eradication of childhood/young adult cancers. She is also the President of the Board of Directors of her daughter Genna’s former charter high school--CHAMPS Charter High School of the Arts. Genna, who will be in attendance at this Convention, attended her first Convention when she was only 9 months old. She is currently a senior at the University of California Davis. In addition to her many activities, Genna works in the University's Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

Shelley is in private practice in Encino, CA. She specializes in Employment Law with an emphasis in Workers’ Compensation. She has served as a Commissioner of the San Diego County Commission on the Status of Women, Chair of the California State Bar Executive Committee on Workers’ Compensation, President of the Southern California Workers’ Compensation Defense Attorney’s Association, Executive Committee of the Los Angeles County Bar Association’s Workers’ Compensation Section, and the Executive Committee of the California Workers’ Compensation Defense Attorney’s Association.
