Presenting Friday, November 7 at 1:00 p.m.
Lawyers play many roles in the legal ecosystem. Join three legal professionals who've lived it from different angles—a practicing lawyer, a former practicing lawyer now guiding Georgetown Law students through career decisions, and a lawyer-researcher who studies legal careers and makes career discovery tools—to explore how you can navigate your path into law with intention.
We'll cover the practical moves that matter: making the most of prelaw mentorship, approaching career exploration strategically, conducting informational interviews, understanding pre-cruitment timelines, and leveraging resources like the I Am The Law podcast and Georgetown's career exploration tools.
Biography:
Liana Nobile graduated from Monmouth University (2009) where she was President of MU's P.A.D. chapter during the 2008-2009 school year. She attended law school at Seton Hall and graduated in 2013, after which she clerked for the Honorable Dennis J. O'Brien J.S.C. (Ret.) while he was still on the bench in Monmouth County Superior Court in New Jersey. While clerking, she and Judge O'Brien handled both Civil and Family law matters. She worked at a plaintiff's personal injury firm after her clerkship ended, representing litigants across New Jersey. She then transitioned to civil defense work where she now focuses her practice on premises liability, toxic tort, environmental, and insurance coverage matters in New York, New Jersey, and at the Federal level.
She frequently guest lectures to undergraduates, masters students, and doctoral candidates on various topics including the implications of recent Supreme Court cases on the education industry and on negligence in the school and education setting. She is the co-author of a recently published book called "Exploring Administrative Decision-Making in Public Education: The Negligence Evaluation."
When not at work, Liana can be found taking in a Broadway show in NYC or spending time with her husband and their golden retriever, Hercules.
