Phi Alpha Delta chapters may hold initiations and events in-person as long as they are following local/university guidelines and the latest CDC recommendations. Since there are many questions about virtual activities, we’ve compiled a brief list of recommendations and advice below. What do I do if my school is closed?
As this is a developing situation, please work with us by sharing information relating to the status of your chapter and your school to info@pad.org. We encourage all members to act according to guidance from the CDC, public health agencies, your schools, and the most up-to-date information available. We know these closures and cancellations will lead to changes for you and your members. Phi Alpha Delta’s goal is always to keep everyone safe and healthy. Regardless of your school’s status, your membership is still for life once you reach the law school level. We understand that this is an unusual situation and we are here to provide support however possible. How should we host events and meetings?
Phi Alpha Delta chapters may hold initiations and events in-person as they are following local/university guidelines and the latest CDC recommendations. If your chapter will be continuing virtual activities, you can consider hosting chapter or Executive Board meetings using the following services: Zoom; Google Hangouts; Skype; WebEx; FreeConferenceCall.com; Slack; TWEN; or any school-sponsored student portal. How should we host initiation ceremonies?
Initiation ceremonies may be hosted in-person if it is allowed by your local/university guidelines. If needed, chapters should make special preparations to allow for social distancing, masks, and cleaning. You and your chapter can also conduct a virtual initiation by phone, social media, or streaming service such as Zoom, Skype, etc. Conduct your initiation ceremony virtually using the guides below, which include an amended version of the Initiation Ritual more suitable for the virtual format. Please use these materials in conjunction with the Ritual Handbook when planning your ceremony. How do we hold elections?
Normally, chapters will hold elections during the spring semester. Consider holding online elections through SurveyMonkey or your school’s online portal. You can receive new member materials in two ways:. Individual Mailings: If your school is operating virtually, new members can request their materials be shipped individually for a service fee of $10 per-person. Please follow this link: www.PAD.org/store/viewproduct.aspx?id=17696499 to pay your fee. Safe Chapter Distribution: **If your school is fully open on campus, and you can safely distribute initiation materials to new members, you may request the new member materials for your chapter by by completing the chapter member materials request form.
