Chapter Activities and the Novel Coronavirus
Chapter Activities and the Novel Coronavirus

COVID/Virtual Operations Update: As we monitor the latest news on the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and the actions being taken by schools and organizations in response, the Phi Alpha Delta Executive Office is taking proactive measures to ensure the health and safety of our staff, our chapters, and our members.

Phi Alpha Delta chapters may hold initiations and events in-person as long as they are following local/university guidelines and the latest CDC recommendations.

Since there are many questions about virtual activities, we’ve compiled a brief list of recommendations and advice below.

As this is a developing situation, please work with us by sharing information relating to the status of your chapter and your school to info@pad.org. We encourage all members to act according to guidance from the CDC, public health agencies, your schools, and the most up-to-date information available.

We know these closures and cancellations will lead to changes for you and your members. Phi Alpha Delta’s goal is always to keep everyone safe and healthy. Regardless of your school’s status, your membership is still for life once you reach the law school level. We understand that this is an unusual situation and we are here to provide support however possible.

Initiation ceremonies may be hosted in-person if it is allowed by your local/university guidelines. If needed, chapters should make special preparations to allow for social distancing, masks, and cleaning.

You and your chapter can also conduct a virtual initiation by phone, social media, or streaming service such as Zoom, Skype, etc. Conduct your initiation ceremony virtually using the guides below, which include an amended version of the Initiation Ritual more suitable for the virtual format. Please use these materials in conjunction with the Ritual Handbook when planning your ceremony.
