Chapter Activities and the Novel Coronavirus
For the safety of our members, Phi Alpha Delta chapters are to hold initiations and events virtually.
Since there are many questions about this change and potential implications within your chapter, we’ve compiled a brief list of recommendations and advice below.
What do I do if my school is closed?
As this is a developing situation, please work with us by sharing information relating to the status of your chapter and your school to email@example.com. We encourage all members to act according to guidance from the CDC, public health agencies, your schools, and the most up-to-date information available.
We know these closures and cancellations will lead to changes for you and your members. Phi Alpha Delta’s goal is always to keep everyone safe and healthy. Regardless of your school’s status, your membership is still for life once you reach the law school level. We understand that this is an unusual situation and we are here to provide support however possible.
How should we host events and meetings?
For the safety of our members, Phi Alpha Delta chapters are to hold initiations and events virtually through the 2020 fall semester.
Continue chapter or Executive Board meetings using the following services: Google Hangouts; Skype; WebEx; FreeConferenceCall.com; Zoom; Slack; TWEN; or any school-sponsored student portal.
How should we host initiation ceremonies?
Did you know you can conduct a virtual initiation by phone, social media, or streaming service such as Zoom, Skype, etc.? Chapters should continue to initiate members virtually in lieu of cancelling.
If you need to reschedule your initiation ceremony, email firstname.lastname@example.org and let us know ASAP.Click here to download the Pre-Law Chapter Ritual Handbook Click here to download the Law Chapter Ritual Handbook
How do we hold elections?
Normally, chapters will hold elections during the spring semester. If you have already completed elections, great! If not, consider holding online elections through SurveyMonkey or your school’s online portal.
Contact email@example.com if you would like assistance setting this up.
For more information on completing online elections and officer transitions, check out our brief instructional videos here:
When will we receive new membership materials?
Considering we are entering fall semester under a unique set of circumstances due to the COVID 19 pandemic, the P.A.D. Executive Office will not automatically be sending new member materials (certificates and pins).
Individual Mailings: If your school is operating virtually, new members can request their materials be shipped individually for a service fee of $10 per-person; members may complete this form: www.PAD.org/materialsrequest_individual.
Safe Chapter Distribution: **If your school is fully open on campus, and you can safely distribute initiation materials to new members, you may request the new member materials for your chapter by by completing this form.
If you have any questions, or need to request direct shipment, please contact Director of Membership Katie Gibbs at firstname.lastname@example.org.

What is the status on P.A.D. National Events?
This is a very challenging time for all of us. We will continue to inform members immediately as national events change to a virtual format. The health and safety of our members is our utmost concern.
The Pre-Law Conference and Law Expo will be reimagined and held virtually November 4-8, 2020 with a new pricing structure, and the Law School Mock Trial Competition will be a held online in February 2021 with a new and exciting format.Event Information
