Cynthia "CC" Cooper

Cynthia Cooper, also known by thousands of P.A.D.s as “CC,” served as the Office Manager of P.A.D.’s Executive Office in Granada Hills from 1977 to 1987. For that decade, she was the first voice that many of our sisters and brothers heard from International.
  
Serving Phi Alpha Delta was not a job, but a calling for CC for she came to love many of our members. She had a fantastic memory and could pick up a conversation with a member even if they hadn’t spoken for a year or more.  She truly cared about what was going on in the lives of our members as well as what they were doing for Phi Alpha Delta.

After about a year of serving at the Executive Office, CC attended her first P.A.D. Convention in 1978 and oversaw registration – something she did for the next 4 Conventions as well. Convention added a new dimension to Mrs. Cooper’s interactions with our members as she could now meet our sisters and brothers face to face and such solidified her relationships with many of them. Contact with many P.A.D.s by CC was no longer limited to 9 to 5, Monday through Friday as it was not uncommon for her to call members on weekends and for them to contact her at her home.  

She retired from the Executive Office in 1987 but maintained contact with many P.A.D. members for the years that followed, right up until her death on July 2, 2019.

Few non-P.A.D.s have loved Phi Alpha Delta and its members as much as CC. It is fitting and proper that this award, which will be awarded to a non-P.A.D. for their involvement in our Fraternity, be named after Cynthia Cooper.
