P.A.D. Day at the Supreme Court FAQ

The 60th Annual P.A.D. Day at the U.S. Supreme Court is scheduled for Thursday, June 4, 2026. The ceremony takes place in the morning and all events end by 1:30 pm Eastern Time.

In addition to the ceremony, P.A.D. will host a Welcome Reception for attendees on the evening of Wednesday, June 3.

You must have been admitted to practice and in good standing for at least 3 years with the highest court of your state- this is typically your state’s supreme court. Your certificate of good standing must be from the highest court in the state you are barred in and not the state bar association.

Once admitted via written motion, admittees are not permitted to participate in a future in-person admission ceremony. However, written motion admittees are welcome to register as a guest to attend a future in-person P.A.D. Day event.

Written motion admittees do receive the same benefits of the Court as in-person admittees such as access to attend U.S. Supreme Court with preferred seating, access to the library, and a certificate.

The registration fee includes all event components including attendance at our welcome reception on Wednesday evening with light fare and cash bar, breakfast at the Supreme Court on Thursday, and post ceremony luncheon on Thursday. The fee also covers sponsor signatures if needed, movant, P.A.D. staff coordination with the Supreme Court staff, group photograph, and your bar admission fee.

All guests must also register.

NOTE: Please submit ONLY ONE payment to P.A.D. for registration at www.PAD.org/PADDay#registration which includes the $200.00 bar admission fee.

Registrants can pay by credit card or check. Please make checks payable to ‘Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity’. Each check should include payment for you and your admission fee.

To pay by credit card, you can pay online at www.PAD.org/PADDay#registration, complete the payment section on the registration form, or call the P.A.D. Executive Office to pay by phone. Please note there is a 2% added processing fee for all credit card payments.

Should the event not be held in-person, full refunds will be offered to applicants who do not wish to be admitted via written motion.

For the 2026 admission term, scanned and emailed applications are accepted. If you plan to email your certificate of good standing, the seal must be visible. Please either email your application materials to andrew@pad.org or mail to the Phi Alpha Delta Executive Office, C/O P.A.D. Day, 606 Baltimore Ave, Suite 303, Towson, MD 21204.

NOTE: Applications MUST be typed!

Yes! Simply submit your application to our office with the sponsor signature portion blank, and we’ll obtain those for you via P.A.D. alumni members who offer their sponsorship. On the movant portion of the signature page, please type your name and leave the signature portion blank. P.A.D. will provide a movant for your admission.

NOTE: All applicants MUST sign the Certification and Oath of Admission portions of the signature page of the bar application.

The Phoenix Park Hotel is located 0.9 miles from the U.S. Supreme Court, which is approximately 5 minutes by car and 15 minutes walking. We suggest attendees plan to use rideshare services (Uber, Lyft, licensed D.C. taxis) or walk to get to/from the Court and the hotel.

The court allows one guest per admittee to view the ceremony. However, additional guests are permitted to attend the evening reception, breakfast at the US Supreme Court, and lunch.

The U.S. Supreme Court may change their policy regarding the number of guests allowed in the courtroom up to the day of admissions. This could affect some of our registered guests. We cannot guarantee that guests will be able to view the ceremony. We will do our best to work with the court if these issues arise.

Professional attire is required for all visitors to the U.S. Supreme Court regardless of whether they are being admitted in the ceremony.

Please bring as few items as possible and note that within the court room itself, no personal items are permitted. Any personal items must be left in the staging room provided for P.A.D. attendees and will be supervised by P.A.D. staff.

Please visit https://www.supremecourt.gov/visiting/visiting.aspx for the most up to date list of prohibited items and visiting etiquette.

Members of the United States Supreme Court Bar receive benefits including special courtroom seating, access to the SCOTUS Library, and more. Visit www.PAD.org/PADDay#Benefits for more information.
