Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, International Rebrands Society of Scholars

Phi Alpha Delta (P.A.D.) is excited to launch a rebrand of the Society of Scholars, including a new logo and updated colors to represent the honors society.

The Society of Scholars was established in 2015 to recognize the exceptional academic achievement of P.A.D.’s pre-law and law students; pre-law members with a 3.5 GPA and law student members in the top third of their class being eligible to join. The program later opened membership to alumni members who could join retroactively utilizing their GPA or class rank from their time in undergraduate or law school.

At the time of the 2015 launch, the Society was represented by a black, red, and white logo reflecting the name of the program and featuring a red carnation – Phi Alpha Delta’s official flower. The program also offered membership certificates and pins and black and red graduation cords to Society members.

“While the former brand and logo will always have a place in the fraternity’s history, it didn’t represent the ideals of the program,” said Director of Communications Cory Freeman, “and we are pleased to launch this new logo that better represents the esteem membership in the Society offers.”

The new logo is black and gold, utilizing P.A.D.’s official gold color that is also reflected in the fraternity’s crest and seal. It also borrows from components found within the fraternity’s crest featuring several distinctive parts: the Wreath of Victory, (laurel wreath) that was worn on the head as a symbol of triumph in Ancient Rome, and the open Book of Knowledge containing a Greek Ionic Column (a symbol of power) and the Scales of Justice (representing academic achievement in the field of pre-law and law).

The new logo will be featured on new Society member pins and certificates, and updated black and gold graduation cords will be available during spring semester this year.

Since its inception, over 1,500 P.A.D. members have joined the Society of Scholars, with approximately 250 of them being current students at the time of this release.

In support of Society members’ continued academic success, P.A.D. offers multiple $250.00 scholarships, sponsored by fraternity partner Kaplan Test Prep, awarded to pre-law and law student members to assist with academic costs.
