Speaker Series 1/17/23: "Memory Basics & Current Best Practices for Collecting Eyewitness Evidence"

Join Phi Alpha Delta on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at 8:00 pm Eastern Time/5:00 pm Pacific Time for the next installment of the P.A.D. Speaker Series, "Memory Basics and Current Best Practices for Collecting Eyewitness Evidence."

The leading factor in wrongful convictions is eyewitness misidentification. Thus, it is vitally important that actors within the legal system have a basic understanding of the current best practices for collecting eyewitness evidence. To accomplish this, Dr. Brian Cahill will cover the best practices for collecting eyewitness evidence including pre-interview, reasonable suspicion, blind administration, filler selection, lineup instructions, confidence collection, video recording, repeated identifications, and showups. For each, Dr. Cahill will cover both the empirical research that supports the practice and the reasoning behind its effectiveness.

This session will be moderated by Michelle Isherwood (P.A.D. International Foundation Secretary, Humphrey Chapter).

This is a free presentation for P.A.D. members. Please register to reserve your spot.
