Dear Sisters and Brothers,

As the Chair of the 63rd Biennial Convention Rules and Resolutions Committee for Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, International, I am pleased to present the Rules Report prepared by the Committee following lively debate and discussion over the course of five (5) meetings totaling more than eight (8) hours. Over the past two (2) months, I am proud to report that every Committee Member attended every meeting while working tirelessly to draft language for the proposed Rules in between meetings. With the assistance of Executive Director Andrew Sagan, Deputy Director Emily Baranoski, and Committee Resource Person B.J. Maley, the Committee had meaningful discussions about how to ensure a fair and impartial election process. They also crafted rules to ensure all International Officer Candidates have multiple options to present their supporting speeches to the International Chapter during our virtual Convention.

It is with this introduction and overview of the Committee’s work, that I ask you please join me in thanking the following Committee Members who thought critically about what changes needed to be made to our Rules to ensure that the Fraternity can effectively and efficiently conduct its business during our first virtual Convention:

  • Edwin Anderson
  • Allison Hedrick, Marshal
  • Jaquon Irby, Recorder
  • Samantha Ivey
  • Victoria Leisey, Clerk
  • Shelley Weinstein

I would also like to thank Brother Sagan, Deputy Director Baranoski, and Brother Maley for all their guidance. In addition, I would like to recognize all Observers who attended one or more of the Committee’s meetings. Please know your dedication to this Fraternity and desire to be heard did not go unnoticed, and I thank you for bringing your comments to the Committee for consideration.

As the Rules Report will be the first order of business at the General Session #1 scheduled for Thursday August 6, 2020 at 11:00AM Eastern, I would encourage all Delegates to review the proposed Rules in advance. If you have any other questions or concerns regarding the Rules Report prior to Thursday, please do not hesitate to contact me. Otherwise, I look forward to “seeing” you all at #PADCon2020.
