International Secretary Melody Crick Peters

Biography

Melody was born and raised in Spokane, WA. She attended Gonzaga University, graduating in 2001 with a major in political science. Melody moved to Seattle to attend law school and graduated from Seattle University School of Law in 2004. While in law school, she served as Marshal, Vice Justice, and ultimately Justice of the Truman Chapter. In 2004, Melody was recognized as the third place Justice for the Alex A. Hotchkiss Outstanding Chapter Justice award. She passed the Washington State Bar Exam in 2004 and was appointed District I Justice in March 2005. During this Biennium, she also served as Chair of the District Justice Advisory Council.
 
Melody was recognized at both the 2010 Convention and the 2015 Leadership Summit with the Stan Jones Outstanding District Justice Award. She previously had been recognized as the second and third place Stan Jones Outstanding District Justice in 2008 and 2009 respectively and was a finalist in 2014. At the 2014 Convention, Melody was awarded the Meritorious Service Award. At the 2018 Convention, she was humbled and honored to be inducted into the Distinguished Service Chapter.
 
She also attended P.A.D. Day at the U.S. Supreme Court on June 1, 2015 and was sworn into the Supreme Court Bar. Melody is also proudly part of “117” with her “twin,” Ms. Kimberly Gallant, COIC, who she counts as her one of her favorite P.A.D. benefits. The expanded 117.5 also includes former International Board Member-At-Large, Carley Dirks, another treasured P.A.D. benefit.
 
Melody and her husband, Scott Peters (Dunbar Chapter) are the proud parents of Madison, who is almost 15. Madison has attended district conferences since she was just a month and a half old! Melody and family live just outside of Tacoma (south of Seattle). Melody is also a Girl Scout Troop Leader, a Girl Scout Service Unit Manager, is on leadership committee and leads a Relay for Life Team, sits on the board for Lawyers Helping Hungry Children and is President and Home Meet Coordinator of her daughter’s gymnastics booster board. Melody serves as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Washington and is the Deputy Director-Criminal for the Medicaid Fraud and Abuse Division.  She serves as a facilitator and the Co-Chair of the Training Committee for the National Association of Medicaid Fraud Control Units.
