John J. McAulay Biography

John J. McAulay

John J. McAulay joined Phi Alpha Delta by his initiation into O'Niell Chapter at Loyola University School of Law in New Orleans as a faculty member. He was a professor of law at Loyola for more than 40 years. He served as an Associate Dean for much of that time and as the Acting Dean for a considerable time. McAulay was also a past Chairman of the Southeastern Conference of the Association of American Law Schools.

Brother McAulay served as the Faculty Advisor to O'Niell Chapter for decades. He was the
General Convention Chairman at our 1970 Convention in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was the District XVI Justice from 1974 to 1979 and reached out beyond his own O'Niell Chapter.

After his death, the International Executive Board created the John J. McAulay Award. This award is awarded to a P.A.D. member for their contribution to legal education based upon a lifetime of dedication to the principles and ideals of integrity, compassion, courage and professional service.
