Biography
Jhanalyn Blount currently serves as International Executive Board Member At Large Position A. This biennium she has served as the board liaison to the History Committee and to the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Advisory Council (“DEIAC”). Jhanalyn was the movant at this year’s P.A.D. Day at the Supreme Court where she was the first black woman to serve as movant.
Prior to this biennium she served as International Executive Board Member At Large Position D. Before joining the International Executive Board, she served as Assistant District Justice (ADJ) in District VIII for Arkansas. In June of 2019, Jhanalyn participated in P.A.D. Day at the Supreme Court.
Jhanalyn began her journey with P.A.D. as a pre-law member at Wingate University in Wingate, North Carolina. While at Wingate, she served as Justice of the chapter. She continued her involvement in P.A.D. while attending the University of Arkansas at Little Rock Bowen School of Law, serving as the 1L representative, Vice Justice during 2L year, and as Justice during 3L year. While at Bowen, she implemented P.A.D.’s tailgate signature event and helped create a Zero K fundraiser.
Jhanalyn received her Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Wingate University in 2007. In 2009, she completed her studies towards a Bachelor of Arts in International and Global Affairs and Development at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She has also received 2 degrees from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock—a Juris Doctor from the William H. Bowen School of Law conferred in 2014 and a Master of Business Administration conferred in 2016. Her pursuit of education and proclivity to wander led her to study abroad in Botswana and Austria. While in law school, Jhanalyn worked as a law clerk for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and a general practice law firm. From 2016-2019, she served as Legal Counsel for PerfectVision Manufacturing in Little Rock, AR. From 2020 – 2023 and she served as Corporate Counsel for Kinesso in its Conway, AR office.
Jhanalyn currently serves as Principal Attorney for NextEra Energy in their Houston, TX office. Despite her busy work schedule, she finds time to give back to the legal community and community at large. She is a member of the Junior League of Houston, Houston Lawyers Association, Urban League Young Professionals of Houston, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. Jhanalyn has recently moved to Houston, TX but her love for travel keeps her on the go.
