Biography

C. Duane Close II (Washington Chapter, Tidewater Alumni Chapter) received his Juris Doctor from Regent University School of Law. Prior to pursuing a law career, he served twenty years in the US Navy as a Naval Flight Officer, flying the S-3B Viking and the F/A-18F Super Hornet. He completed five carrier deployments aboard four different carriers, and one ground deployment as a Fires Support Officer and Forward Air Controller with a Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force.

That combat and operational experience shapes his conviction that mental health awareness and treatment — particularly for PTSD and traumatic brain injury — is critical to the wellbeing of veterans long after they leave the service. Duane serves on the Advisory Board for The Headstrong Project, an organization providing cost-free, stigma-free mental health treatment to veterans, and he speaks and advocates regularly on removing the barriers that keep veterans from seeking care.

An attorney with Reynolds Law Group, PLLC in Suffolk, Virginia, he provides business planning, leadership coaching, and consulting services for churches, nonprofits, and businesses of all sizes, and serves as director of the firm’s estate planning practice area. He is licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Duane is a member of the International Executive Board of Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, International; the Hampton Roads Estate Planning Counsel; the Virginia State Bar; and the South Hampton Roads Bar Association.
