Over the course of the last year, the Governing Documents Working Group consisting of IAB Member Kitty Maloney and COIC Member Melissa Dewey has been diligently reviewing our governing documents including the By-Laws, Fraternity Policy Manual (FPM), and other related documents in an effort to ensure we consider necessary updates for clarity and consistency. Although their work remains ongoing, they have completed their work to codify the processes and practices related to the Nominations Committee whose work has taken place prior to Convention since 2020.
Both Sister Maloney and Sister Dewey recommend that the Nominations Process be codified in the FPM by the addition of a new Article 17 and Standing Rules of the Nominations Committee Standing Rules as an Appendix to the FPM. Links to each of the documents referenced above can be found below:
The International Executive Board (IEB) is now taking member comments on the Article 17 and Standing Rules of the Nominations Committee Standing Rules. All comments should be made on this Google Form no later than 5:00 PM Eastern on Wednesday, December 13, 2023. Comments received by this deadline will be considered by the IEB during the General Session of a Special Board Meeting to be held in mid-December.
Phi Alpha Delta is the world’s preeminent law fraternity because of our dedication to service: service to the student, the school, the profession, and the community.
It is through devotion to the ideals of compassion, courage, diversity, innovation, integrity, professionalism, and service that we better both our profession and our community. Through accepting our differences we become not just a law fraternity, but a family.
