About Christopher Byrd This fund was established in honor of our P.A.D. Brother Christopher Byrd (Fleming Chapter).
Christopher Byrd joined Phi Alpha Delta at the University of Central Florida’s Pre-Law Chapter where he served as Vice President. He later served as Vice Justice of P.A.D.’s Fleming Chapter at Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad College of Law. He was selected by his peers as the Graduation Speaker for his law school graduation in 2008.
In P.A.D., he later served as Assistant District XXVI Justice (Central and North Florida) and continued to be involved with law students and alumni after his tenure as Assistant District Justice ended.
Professionally, Christopher pursued his passion to protect Florida’s precious environment, serving as an attorney for the Florida Department for Environmental Protection.
He was involved with numerous environmental and advocacy organizations in Tallahassee during the five years he spent with the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). He served on the Executive Council of the Environmental and Land Use Law Section of the Florida Bar and as the Community Service Committee Chair of the Orange County Bar Association's Young Lawyers Section, and was on the Board of Directors of the Fanconi Anemia Research Fund (FARF), a nonprofit organization dedicated to finding a cure for Fanconi Anemia. After leaving DEP, Christopher started the Byrd Law Group, and was voted as one of Orlando's Legal Elite by his peers for two consecutive years. He accomplished more in his 34 years than most do in a lifetime. He inspired hope, led by example, and showed us what it means to embrace life.
Christopher passed away on September 8, 2016 at the age of 34. During his life, Christopher’s larger than life personality touched and inspired all those he encountered.

Phi Alpha Delta is the world’s preeminent law fraternity because of our dedication to service: service to the student, the school, the profession, and the community.
It is through devotion to the ideals of compassion, courage, diversity, innovation, integrity, professionalism, and service that we better both our profession and our community. Through accepting our differences we become not just a law fraternity, but a family.
