Walk to Convention FAQ
WHAT IS THE WALK TO CONVENTION?
The Walk to Convention is a national challenge leading up to P.A.D.’s Biennial Convention for event attendees (law students and alumni). The challenge promotes physical exercise and friendly competition among attendees. For the 2020 Walk to Convention, the challenge has been set for members to complete 500 miles walked by August 5, 2020. WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
P.A.D. law student and alumni members who are registered, or plan to register, for Convention 2020 in Orlando, Florida are encouraged to participate. Only those that attend Convention and meet the step/mileage goal will be recognized and receive a prize. DOWNLOAD THE APP
This is a free application. To use, members must enter code: PADCon2020 during app registration. Please note that the application must be initially opened and your phone kept on your person for your steps to track via the app. If you have any technical difficulties, please contact us. WHEN WILL IT TAKE PLACE?
The second biennial Walk to Convention takes place from February 13, 2020 – August 4, 2020. Convention commences on August 5, 2020 and total steps will be tallied the day before the event. WHY SHOULD I PARTICIPATE?
In addition to lawyers having the lowest health and well being of all professionals, The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services recommends 150 minutes a week of moderate-intensity exercise, such as brisk walking. The 2020 Walk to Convention competition is an opportunity to participate in pre-Convention activities while supporting health and friendly, fraternal competition. Prizes for those who complete the challenge are TBA. WHAT IS THE P.A.D. HEALTH INITIATIVE?
Lawyers have the lowest health and well being of all professionals, study finds [AFR]. In support of the profession, Phi Alpha Delta established the P.A.D. Health Initiative to begin to help combat some of the physical and mental health issues among pre-law and law students, and attorneys. By creating a supportive health-based community, Phi Alpha Delta and our members support healthy lifestyles and habits for themselves and with each other.
