To fulfill Phi Alpha Delta's motto of service to the community, each Convention is host to at least one Service Project to support, preferably, a cause local to our host city. This year, we will again be supporting the national Project Linus initiative, the local United Way of Bluegrass, and the local Lexington community. Please consider bringing donations with you to Convention for drop-off during registration.
The United Way of Bluegrass provides underprivileged kids, aged kindergarten through 3rd grade, with a care package of pajamas, toiletry items, food, and a book. As books tend to be more difficult to obtain for the local branch, P.A.D. will be conducting a book collection for Convention’s local community.
Please bring at least one children’s book with you to Lexington this August to donate to a good cause, and help P.A.D. make a local impact.
Project Linus collects blankets and distributes them to children in hospitals, shelters, social service agencies, or anywhere that a child might be in need. Blankets provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans. The District that donates the most blankets wins $100. Anyone who donates a blanket also gets a Project Linus pin. Only donations made at Convention will be eligible for the prizes.
Glam Chapter will be hosting their inaugural Glam Chapter Closet at this year's Convention. Donate, mingle, and shop for 'new' clothing and accessories at the pre-Banquet Closet. Drop off gently used clothing, shoes, outwear, accessories, etc. at registration.
When the Closet closes, remaining items will be donated to a local charity. Proceeds will benefit the Phi Alpha Delta International Foundation.
While not a service project, the Silent Auction during Convention provides a way for members to support The P.A.D. International Foundation. If you'd like to submit a donation for the Auction, please click here.
