Ronald J. Winter

Ronald J. Winter is a Confidential Law Clerk to a New York State Supreme Court Justice in Buffalo, NY. Prior to taking that job 11 years ago, he served Niagara County as an Assistant District Attorney for 18 years, the last ten as Chief of Homicide prosecutions. He is admitted to practice in New York, the Western District of NY Federal Court, and the United States Supreme Court.

Brother Winter has served his community in various ways. He was elected Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Niagara County Community College, is a past President of the Niagara County Legal Aid Society, Inc. as well as a past President of the Bar Association of the Tonawandas. Ron is also a member of the Adjunct Faculty of the State University at Buffalo Law School where he is an instructor of Trial Technique. He has been a guest lecturer at the Niagara County Law Enforcement Academy, and the New York State Bar Association Criminal Law Section. Ron is also an exempt volunteer firefighter and a 16-gallon blood donor.

For 28 of his 34 years of membership, Ron has served Phi Alpha Delta in the following International capacities: Executive Secretary (now Director of Law School Chapter Operations) and simultaneously as Pre-Law Director; District Justice; Regional Coordinator; Associate Tribune (2 terms); Board Member-At-Large (2 terms); International Secretary (3 terms); International Advocate; and International Vice Justice (2 terms).
Ron has also served at the Chapter level as Marshal and Justice of Alden Chapter, and as Justice of Buffalo Alumni Chapter. He is a recipient of both the Alex A. Hotchkiss Outstanding Law School Chapter Justice Award in 1981 while at Alden Chapter, and the Stan Jones Outstanding District Justice Award in 2003 (District XIX). He has also visited every District in the Fraternity.

Ron is married to Joan, a recently retired middle school English teacher. They have two teenage daughters, Rachel and Lydia, and reside in Lockport, NY.
