Philip A. Greenberg

Brother Greenberg was initiated into the Rapallo Chapter at New York University Law School in the spring of 1971. He served two years as Vice Justice of Rapallo Chapter and as its delegate to the 1972 Convention in San Diego, California, where he served on the historic Merger Committee of Phi Alpha Delta and Phi Delta Delta (the then leading women’s Law Fraternity). He prides himself on being the “sole surviving member” (still seen at Conventions) of that Committee.

While in law school he won the District Oratory contest at the 1972 District Conference. In 1980 Brother Greenberg helped to reactivate the New York City Alumni Chapter, serving as its Clerk and then Justice. He was the Chapter’s delegate to the 1980, 1982, 1984 and 1986 Conventions. From 1987 to 1991 he was the first District Justice of what was then the new District XXI. He attended the 1988 and 1990 Conventions as District Justice, serving the first time as Vice Chairman and the second time as Chairman of the Constitution and Bylaws Committee.

After his stint as District Justice, Brother Greenberg returned as Justice of the New York City Alumni Chapter, serving from 1991 to 1998, attending as one of the delegates to the 1992, 1994, 1996 and 1998 Conventions. He initiated the idea of P.A.D. putting out a Souvenir Convention Ad Journal for the 1988 Convention, to help defray the costs of the Convention. He served on the Ad Journal Committee for that Convention and again for the 1990 and 1994 Conventions. At the 1998 Convention (Scottsdale III), he was elected an International Associate Tribune, and he was reelected to the position until the 2004 Convention (Los Angeles), when Brother Greenberg was elected to be an International Board Member.

At the 2006 Convention, the Convention voted to return Brother Greenberg to the International Tribunal as an Associate Tribune. From 2008 to 2010, he was Clerk of New Jersey Alumni, attending the 2010 Convention as its delegate. In 2010, Brother Greenberg was again returned to the International Tribunal as an Associate Tribune.

His other activities include the Freemasons. In addition to serving four terms as Master of his lodge, Brother Greenberg’s other positions with the Masons include having served one year as President of the Masters and Wardens Association, and as Secretary and later as President of his Masonic District in Manhattan.

As Brother Greenberg is a recognized leading litigator, among the honors he has received was that since the mid-1980’s he has been A-V rated by Martindale-Hubbell, connoting the highest rating for legal ability and ethics. Also since the mid-1980’s, his biography has been included in Who’s Who in American Law and Who’s Who in America.

In 2009 and again in 2011, he was chosen to be in SuperLawyers, indicating that he was in the top 5% or less of the attorneys in his field in New York.
Brother Greenberg has also had numerous television appearances. Included in those appearances has been four times as the guest attorney on the Montel Williams Show. He has also been a guest commentator on Court TV.

Brother Greenberg lives in Little Falls, New Jersey, with his lovely wife Cheryl, who is attending her ninth consecutive P.A.D. convention, and whom he affectionately refers to as his “all-time favorite SPAD.”
